Computer Hardware
Introduction
From this assignment, I learned how to disassemble and assemble a PC, as well as install an operating system. The assignment involved identifying and removing components, handling wires, and installing Windows 11.
Disassembling the PC
Steps:
1. Opened the case and removed the RAM.
2. Removed the graphics card, SSD, and the DVD.
3. Unscrewed the motherboard and took it out.
My Application of Learning:
Identified all parts and safely removed them. Learned that the motherboard is the hardest component to take out as everything was basically connected to it. I was able to watch this video to get it done. It shows step by step what screws to remove and where to push the mother board out from the AIO.
Assembling the PC
Challenges:
All the wires were tangled and it was hard to follow most wires. Taking a photo was helpful but taking a photo from different angles would've been more helpful. This was due to the fact that having a birdseyeview didn't show where most wires were going and which pin they were connected to which led to a bunch of trial and error. In the end we were able to successfully make the computer regardless of the error we had.
What we did learn:
We realized the important of handling the wires with care and how we should always plan steps ahead when dealing with removing and putting back parts.
Installing Operating System
Process:
Downloaded Windows 11 to a flash drive and inserted it into the PC.
Accessed BIOS and selected the flash drive to install Windows 11.
Learning:
Realized that installing Windows is straightforward if the PC meets the requirements.
Final Thoughts
My honest thoughts on this project. It was very fun to take apart a computer and rebuild it. It feels like you accomplished creating something that people use on a everyday basis. With parts and using your knowledge, you can create a device that can surf the internet and can be used for many different tasks. This was a very fun project and I hope to do projects like this again as you learn so much from it.
